West Marin Food Systems Group (WMFS), a project supported through Innovative Health Solutions, is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for community members, partners, residents, and visitors with disabilities. We continuously improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure equal access to our resources, programs, and opportunities.
1. Conformance Status & Standards
Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA standards. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with sensory, cognitive, and mobility disabilities, as well as more user-friendly for all visitors, including low-bandwidth and mobile users.
2. Key Accessibility Features Implemented
To ensure an inclusive digital experience, our website incorporates the following design and technical practices:
Keyboard Navigation: Core features, navigation menus, links, and forms can be operated using a keyboard alone.
Screen Reader Compatibility: Pages use structured HTML headings, landmarks, and ARIA labels to support screen readers and assistive technology.
Text Contrast & Resizing: Text and background combinations meet contrast standards, and text can be zoomed up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
Accessible Alternative Views: Interactive elements, including the Foodshed Map, offer plain-language, accessible list/table alternatives for visitors who prefer non-graphical navigation.
Mobile-First & Low Friction: Layouts avoid auto-playing carousels, hover-only interactions, and complex animations to reduce cognitive load and conserve mobile data.
Bilingual Support: Human-reviewed Spanish content, forms, and urgent pathways are available to serve Spanish-speaking community members.
3. Requesting Alternate Formats
If you need any information, document, form, or resource on this website in an alternate accessible format (such as large print, accessible PDF, plain text, or spoken translation), please reach out to us. We will work with you to provide the requested format at no cost as quickly as possible.
4. Feedback & Reporting Accessibility Barriers
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the West Marin Food Systems website. If you encounter an accessibility barrier or experience difficulty accessing any part of our site, please let us know so we can fix the issue:
Email: wmfoodsystems@gmail.com
Phone: (415) 669-4264
When reporting an issue, please include the specific webpage URL, a brief description of the barrier encountered, and the assistive technology or browser you were using.
5. Ongoing Technical Maintenance
Digital accessibility is an ongoing effort. WMFS conducts regular site reviews every four months, content updates, and testing to maintain compliance and ensure new stories, resources, and forms remain fully accessible to all community members.
